The Georgetown Heritage Society was founded in 1977 during the excitement of our nation's Bicentennial. Through education, the Society encourages respect, appreciation and sensitivity for the unique architectural endowment, diversity of cultural character, and natural beauty found in Georgetown today.
Projects done in conjunction with the City of Georgetown:
- Worked to designate downtown as a historic district
- Completed a city-wide Historic Resources survey, photographing and documenting sites of historical and architectural interest
- Developed a Preservation Plan for historic Georgetown
- Established the History and Visitor Information Center
- Rehabilitated historic Grace Episcopal Church, now Grace Heritage Center
- Heritage Holiday Home Tour - 2nd weekend in December, see Events Calendar.
